'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and the defender quickly hammered in the loose ball before charging toward the home end to mark the goal, with fans mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result completed an incredible turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the latter period. In the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result booked a fourth-round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for having a go from that distance," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after the team changed tactics. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just perform consistently," he explains. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to control and neutralize a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a strong mentality and concentration just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in his new home. At the London club he reunited with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division the Manchester club, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that development for his team and nation, performing well for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including home and away fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This marks quite the ride for the player from the local area in his hometown, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

His only game for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he recalls, smiling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the guys but I'm aiming to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would mix with followers on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
